PM Modi Responds to Donald Trump: India-US Trade Talks Set to Continue

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed confidence in the ongoing trade negotiations between India and the United States, emphasizing the two countries as “close friends and natural partners.” His remarks came in response to positive statements from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the trade talks.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi said, “India and the US are close friends and natural partners. I am confident that our trade negotiations will pave the way for unlocking the limitless potential of the India-US partnership.” He added that both sides were working to finalize the talks as soon as possible and looked forward to speaking directly with Trump in the near future to secure a brighter, more prosperous future for both nations.

Trump, in turn, shared Modi’s message on Truth Social, expressing his optimism about the trade discussions. He also confirmed that the U.S. and India were addressing trade barriers and expressed confidence that an agreement would be reached.

This exchange of remarks follows a period of tension between the two nations, particularly after the U.S. imposed tariffs on Indian goods and oil imports from Russia. Despite this, both leaders have shown signs of easing tensions, with Trump recently referring to Modi as a “great Prime Minister” and affirming their strong friendship.

The shift in tone marks a potential breakthrough in India-U.S. relations, as the two nations work through differences and aim to strengthen their economic ties.
