Volvo EX30 Electric SUV Teased Ahead of India Launch

Volvo Cars India has officially teased its upcoming EX30 electric SUV, confirming that the model will soon arrive in the Indian market. Already on sale internationally, the compact luxury EV will be positioned below the EX40 in Volvo’s lineup and is expected to be brought in as CKD (Completely Knocked Down) units.

Design and Features

The EX30 follows Volvo’s signature design language, with a sleek, modern aesthetic. Key highlights include:

  • Blanked-off grille and narrow LED headlights
  • Thor’s Hammer daytime running lights
  • Pixelated LED tail lamps
  • Aerodynamic alloy wheels designed for EV efficiency
  • Rear-left charging port

Inside, the SUV embraces minimalist Scandinavian styling, featuring:

  • A 12.3-inch vertical infotainment system powered by Google OS
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Simplified digital driver’s display
  • New steering wheel and clutter-free dashboard
  • Safety features such as ADAS (adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist), a 360-degree camera, and multiple airbags

Powertrain and Range

Built on Geely’s SEA platform, the EX30 will offer two battery options in India:

  • 51 kWh (range up to 344 km WLTP)
  • 69 kWh (range up to 480 km WLTP)

Globally, it is offered in both single-motor (268 hp, 343 Nm) and dual-motor AWD (422 hp, 543 Nm) configurations, delivering quick acceleration and strong efficiency.

On launch, the Volvo EX30 will compete with other premium compact EVs including:

  • BMW iX1
  • BYD Sealion 7
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5

What to Expect

With its premium safety tech, Scandinavian minimalism, and competitive range, the EX30 is set to become Volvo’s most affordable EV offering in India, broadening the brand’s presence in the luxury EV space.
