As floodwaters continue to affect large parts of Uttar Pradesh, several state ministers visited the worst-hit districts on Monday to oversee relief operations and ensure support reaches those in need. The outreach comes amid continuous rainfall that has caused widespread flooding across 13 districts in the state.
Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ministers were deployed to the ground to inspect relief camps, distribute supplies, and interact with affected residents.
According to officials, rivers across the region are flowing above danger levels. The Ganga is swollen in Varanasi, Mirzapur, Ghazipur, and Ballia, while the Yamuna has crossed the red mark in Auraiya, Kalpi, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, and Banda. The Betwa River is also overflowing in parts of Hamirpur.
Relief on the Ground
Finance Minister Suresh Khanna and Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar toured flood-affected parts of Varanasi, including Namo Ghat and Nakki Ghat. They distributed essential supplies at relief camps set up in Shriram PG College and Deepti Convent School in Hukulganj, where children were also given chocolates.
Minister Khanna stressed the importance of maintaining clean water, adequate food, medical aid, and power supply in relief zones. He urged officials to be vigilant in preventing waterborne diseases and maintaining hygienic conditions.
In Prayagraj, Cabinet Minister Nand Gopal Gupta visited Katka Dera village in Karchana tehsil. He instructed authorities to supply dry rations, animal fodder, and monitor water levels closely. Coordination with local village heads for potential evacuations was also emphasized.
Wider Relief Efforts Across Districts
Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh and Minister of State Sanjay Gangwar distributed relief material in Kalpi, Jalaun. They also served food to residents and assessed the situation in Madhogarh.
In Ballia, Minister-in-Charge Dayashankar Mishra traveled by NDRF boat to inspect flood and erosion-hit settlements including Gopalpur, Udayichhapra, and Dubeychhapra. He later inaugurated a relief centre at Hanuman Temple in Dubeychhapra and reviewed vulnerable stretches along NH-31. Officials were instructed to ensure quick deployment of boats and essential supplies.
Minister of State for Jal Shakti Ramkesh Nishad visited flood-hit gram panchayats in Banda district, meeting affected families and directing immediate distribution of relief.
