Teenage Engineering, the Swedish design firm known for its stylish audio gear and electronics, has unveiled the Computer-2, a follow-up to its $149 Computer-1 case from 2021. This time, the company is calling it “the cheapest computer case in the world” — because it’s free.
The case is already listed as sold out on Teenage Engineering’s website, but users can sign up for email notifications when it’s back in stock.
Compact PC Build in Foldable Form
Like the original, the Computer-2 is built for small form factor PC setups, offering space for:
- Mini-ITX motherboard
- SFX power supply
- Dual-slot GPU (up to ~7 inches long)
Unlike the aluminum-bodied Computer-1, the new case is made from a single sheet of semi-transparent polypropylene (PP) plastic. It uses plastic hinges and snap hooks, folding together into a sturdy chassis with a carrying handle on top.
No Tools? No Problem
Teenage Engineering provides an 18-step assembly guide on its website, and thanks to its origami-like design, only basic folding skills are needed. The company claims you can even mount the motherboard without screws or brackets by simply clicking it into place.
The Computer-2 blends the brand’s signature minimalist aesthetic with functional, DIY-friendly design — making it an intriguing option for PC builders who want something unique, especially if they manage to grab one for free.
