SAP Labs India on August 5 officially inaugurated its new Innovation Park campus in Bengaluru, marking a significant expansion of its footprint in the country. With an investment of €194 million (approximately ₹1,760 crore), the facility will eventually accommodate up to 15,000 employees—making it SAP’s largest campus in India and one of its biggest globally.
Strategically located near Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, the new site will serve as a hub for product engineering, customer support, and enterprise AI innovation.
Leaders Signal Confidence in India’s Tech Ecosystem
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, SAP Executive Board Member Thomas Saueressig, and SAP Labs India Managing Director Sindhu Gangadharan.
“India’s rise as a global technology powerhouse is not just a story of scale, it’s a story of ingenuity, resilience, and relentless innovation,” Gangadharan said during the event.
Saueressig called the new Bengaluru facility a “global innovation hub,” emphasizing SAP’s commitment to helping its customers “move from insight to action” through AI and data solutions built in India.
Part of India’s Growth Vision
Union Minister Vaishnaw described the expansion as aligned with the Indian government’s “Viksit Bharat 2047” vision. He called the new investment “a timely move” that underscores global confidence in India’s skilled workforce and innovation potential.
Academic Partnerships and Social Impact
To coincide with the opening, SAP Labs India also announced new initiatives focused on research and education. These include:
- A partnership with EduBridge, with a €100,000 investment to train over 400 underserved youth in AI-related roles.
- A research collaboration with IIT Madras, focused on using AI to analyze public health data to predict diseases and recommend early interventions.
SAP’s Growing Presence in India
With over 17,300 employees across India, SAP already considers the country a key talent hub outside its global headquarters in Germany. The Bengaluru Innovation Park further cements India’s role in SAP’s global strategy, particularly in cutting-edge areas like enterprise AI and digital transformation.
