Real Madrid Stay Perfect Despite 3 Goals Ruled Out in Win Over Mallorca

Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the new LaLiga season with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mallorca at the Santiago Bernabéu, despite having three goals disallowed on the night.

Mallorca Strike First

The visitors stunned the home crowd in the 18th minute when Vedat Muriqi, back from suspension, diverted Pablo Torre’s corner past Aurélien Tchouaméni and into the net — the first goal Xabi Alonso’s side have conceded this season.

Muriqi almost doubled his tally minutes later, forcing the Madrid defence into a scramble before the hosts regained control.

Madrid Respond Quickly

Real Madrid equalised in the 37th minute when Arda Güler reacted sharply to Dean Huijsen’s headed pass from a quick corner. Just moments later, Vinícius Júnior struck off the far post after Federico Valverde’s pressing forced a turnover, putting Madrid ahead 2-1 within the space of a minute.

Kylian Mbappé, who had two goals disallowed for offside, failed to score for the first time this campaign, while Güler also had a second effort chalked off for handball after a VAR review in the 55th minute.

Defensive Heroics Seal the Win

Mallorca came close to levelling in the 62nd minute, but Álvaro Carreras produced a remarkable goal-line clearance to preserve Madrid’s lead. Goalkeeper Leo Román also made key saves to keep the visitors in the contest.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, making his return to the starting XI after being omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s England squad, impressed in the first half with his passing range but was substituted in the 73rd minute for Dani Carvajal.

Perfect Start Continues

Despite the missed chances and disallowed goals, Madrid held on for their fourth straight league win. Goals from Güler and Vinícius ensured the reigning champions continue their 100% record as they look to extend their dominance under Alonso.
