Real Madrid have officially signed Argentine forward Franco Mastantuono from River Plate, securing the highly rated teenager on a six-year contract. The move was finalised on Thursday, coinciding with Mastantuono’s 18th birthday.
The youngster underwent his medical at the club before putting pen to paper alongside Madrid president Florentino Pérez. “I promise I’ll give everything I have for this shirt. It has always been my dream to play for the greatest club in the world,” Mastantuono said during his unveiling.
Madrid had agreed terms for his transfer earlier this year but had to wait until he turned 18 to complete the signing. According to reports, the Spanish giants paid around €45 million ($52.5 million) for the deal.
As part of his presentation, Mastantuono was gifted a scale model of the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, a watch, and his new jersey bearing the number 30.
The Argentine forward joins a list of new arrivals at Madrid this summer, which includes Spanish central defender Dean Huijsen and England right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The club begins the 2025/26 season under new head coach Xabi Alonso, who replaced Carlo Ancelotti following a trophyless campaign. Last season, Madrid lost the La Liga title to Barcelona, fell short in both the Champions League and Club World Cup, and were beaten in all four El Clásico encounters.
Madrid’s La Liga opener is set for Tuesday at home against Osasuna.
