Patna: Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday joined her brother Rahul Gandhi during his ongoing Voters Adhikar Yatra in Bihar, promising that not a single vote would be stolen in the state.
The march resumed from Supaul after a day’s break, drawing massive crowds. Priyanka, seated on the roof of an SUV alongside Rahul, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and others, greeted thousands of supporters who had gathered to see the brother-sister duo.
Priyanka’s Attack on BJP
Accusing the BJP of undermining democracy, Priyanka alleged that the ruling party was trying to stay in power through “vote theft.” She said millions had been denied voting rights under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. “But we will not allow a single vote of the poor to be stolen,” she declared.
Political Significance of Janaki Temple Visit
Priyanka is scheduled to visit Sitamarhi on Wednesday to offer prayers at the revered Janaki Temple. The move is seen as a counter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent foundation stone-laying ceremony for a grand Sita Temple in the same town, underscoring the BJP’s Hindutva agenda.
Boost for the Opposition Bloc
Rahul Gandhi, addressing the gathering, said the I.N.D.I.A. bloc was united in its fight against the NDA. “We will not allow the Election Commission to work at the BJP’s behest. Every genuine voter will be protected in Bihar,” he said.
Rahul’s 16-day yatra will culminate in a grand rally in Patna on September 1. Independent MP Pappu Yadav also extended support, joining hands with RJD and CPI-ML workers during the march, signaling a broader opposition front.
