Priyanka Chopra Not Returning to Bollywood with Love & War, Confirms Insider

Despite recent buzz suggesting Priyanka Chopra might make a Bollywood comeback through a special appearance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War, sources close to the filmmaker have strongly denied the claim.

The speculation had fans excited about the possibility of seeing Chopra reunite with Bhansali after her memorable song “Ram Chahe Leela” in Goliyon Ki Raas Leela: Ram-Leela. The film, which features Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles, has already generated significant attention, and the idea of Chopra returning in a grand dance sequence seemed to add to the film’s appeal.

However, a source quoted by journalist Subhash K. Jha told Bollywood Hungama that the rumors are completely unfounded. “This is the absurdest rumour in the history of Bollywood gossip,” the insider said, adding, “Priyanka had done a special song in Ram-Leela as a favour, after Aishwarya Rai opted out at the last minute. But things didn’t end well.”

The source went on to claim that Chopra had reportedly agreed to do the song on the understanding that she would be cast in Bhansali’s next film—a promise that allegedly wasn’t fulfilled. This led to a fallout between the two, making her involvement in Love & War highly unlikely, according to the source.

This statement contradicts earlier reports, including one from Hindustan Times, where another insider suggested that discussions were ongoing. That report hinted that while nothing had been signed, Chopra might feature in a high-energy dance number in the period drama. Some fans even speculated that a recent cryptic Instagram post by the actress could be a subtle hint at the project.

If confirmed, the role would have marked Chopra’s return to Hindi cinema in a Bhansali film—a reunion many fans have hoped for. But as of now, it appears to be nothing more than speculation.

Love & War is currently in production and set to hit theaters on March 20, 2026. The film is said to be an epic period piece, with an intense showdown between Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal that insiders claim could rival iconic moments in Indian cinema.

While Chopra may not be a part of Love & War, she is already locked in for SSMB29, the much-anticipated pan-India action-adventure directed by SS Rajamouli. Co-starring Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the project is expected to be a major release on both national and global stages.

As for Love & War, the film’s final cast lineup remains a closely guarded secret. Until an official confirmation surfaces, fans will have to wait and watch whether Priyanka Chopra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali ever reunite on screen again.
