Over 25 Shots Fired at Kapil Sharma’s Cafe in Canada, Second Attack in a Month

For the second time this month, shots were fired at comedian Kapil Sharma’s cafe, Kap’s Cafe, located in Surrey, Canada. At least 25 gunshots were reportedly heard during the attack, which has raised concerns about the safety of the establishment. Social media posts from two notorious gangs, Gurpreet Singh alias Goldy Dhillon and Lawrence Bishnoi, have claimed responsibility for the shooting.

A video surfaced online showing the gunfire, accompanied by a voice saying, “We had called the target, but he didn’t hear the ring, so we had to take action. If he still doesn’t hear the ring, the next action will be taken soon in Mumbai.” This cryptic message indicates a possible further escalation in Mumbai, prompting local authorities to investigate.

The first attack on Kap’s Cafe occurred on July 10, when employees were still inside. Fortunately, no one was injured, though the cafe was damaged, with at least 10 bullet holes found in a window and another window shattered. In response to the violence, Kap’s Cafe issued a statement vowing to stand firm against such acts, reaffirming its commitment to being a space of warmth and community.

Authorities are also looking into reports from the Indian media, where a Khalistani separatist claimed responsibility for the first attack. Harjit Singh Laddi, a member of the terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), stated that the shooting was in retaliation for “humorous” remarks made during a Kapil Sharma show, which allegedly offended the Nihang Sikh community. BKI, recognized as a terrorist organization by the Canadian government, is linked to violent acts, and Laddi is on India’s most-wanted list, as per the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

The latest incident highlights an ongoing security threat to Kapil Sharma’s business, with both local and Indian authorities investigating the situation. Kapil Sharma’s team has expressed their commitment to keeping the cafe a symbol of positivity, despite the repeated threats.
