Lokah Chapter 1 Box Office Day 6: Malayalam Hit Earns ₹39 Crore, Surges Past Expectations

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, produced by Dulquer Salmaan, has emerged as one of the biggest Malayalam hits of 2025, recording strong collections across languages and surpassing early trade expectations.

Box Office Performance

The film, made on a budget of around ₹30–33 crore, has already crossed its breakeven point with a six-day total of ₹38.95 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

  • Opening day: ₹2.7 crore
  • First Sunday: ₹10 crore
  • Monday: ₹7.2 crore
  • Tuesday: ₹7.35 crore

On Tuesday, the film registered 52.41% occupancy in Malayalam and 22.53% in Telugu.

Show Count Boost

Initially released in 649 shows nationwide, the film saw a massive jump in screenings due to high demand. By Tuesday, it expanded to 1,236 Malayalam shows and 574 Telugu shows. A Hindi-dubbed version is also scheduled for release this week.

Lokah vs Other Films

While Lokah Chapter 1 grows steadily, Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor’s Param Sundari has seen a decline. After opening at ₹7.25 crore, it dropped to ₹4.25 crore on Tuesday, with six-day earnings of ₹34.25 crore against a much higher budget of ₹60 crore.

Lokah’s Place in Malayalam Cinema

Directed by Dominic Arun, the film stars Kalyani Priyadarshan as a female superhero, along with Sandy, Arun Kurian and Premalu fame Naslen. It has already become the third highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2025, behind Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan and Mohanlal’s Thudarum.

The film is performing better than previous sleeper hits:

  • Manjummel Boys: Earned ₹25 crore in 6 days, later grossed ₹240.5 crore worldwide.
  • Premalu: Collected ₹12 crore in 6 days, eventually grossing ₹131.18 crore worldwide.

With positive word-of-mouth and strong momentum, Lokah Chapter 1 is expected to comfortably surpass the lifetime collections of both films.
