Actor Janhvi Kapoor recently became the subject of online trolling after she raised the slogan “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” during a Janmashtami celebration in Mumbai. The Param Sundari actor has now addressed the incident, clarifying why she chose to say it and responding to the memes that followed.
What Happened at the Event
Janhvi, who has been busy promoting her upcoming film Param Sundari, attended a Dahi Handi event on Saturday. While being cheered on by the crowd, she joined in with the patriotic slogan, which later sparked a wave of memes and criticism on social media.
Janhvi’s Clarification
Taking to Instagram Stories, Janhvi shared a short clip from the event, pointing out that the chant was already being called out from the stage before she repeated it.
She wrote:
“Just for context – full video lol. Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material (If I didn’t say it after him, it would’ve been a problem. Now that I said it, the video is cut and turned into meme material).”
She further added:
“Waise sirf Janmashtami ke din nahi, roz bolungi Bharat Mata ki Jaiiiiii! 🙏🇮🇳 (Not just on Janmashtami, I will say Bharat Mata ki Jai every day).”
