Indian-Origin Woman Raped In “Racially Aggravated” Attack In UK: Police Launch Urgent Manhunt

LONDON: UK authorities have launched a massive manhunt after a racially aggravated rape of a young Indian-origin woman in Walsall, northern England. The West Midlands Police are appealing to the public for any information that could help identify the suspect, described as a white male in his 30s.

The police were called to the Park Hall area of Walsall on Saturday evening after reports of a woman in her 20s found in distress on the street. Investigators confirmed they are treating the case as a racially motivated sexual assault, sparking widespread outrage and fear among local South Asian communities.

“This was an absolutely appalling attack on a young woman. We are doing everything possible to identify and arrest the suspect,” said Detective Superintendent Ronan Tyrer, who is leading the investigation.

Police Appeal for Public Help

Officers have released CCTV footage of the suspect and urged anyone with relevant dashcam or home security footage to come forward. “Your information could be the vital breakthrough we need,” DS Tyrer said.

The attacker is described as white, in his 30s, with short hair and wearing dark clothing during the assault. Specialist police teams, forensic units, and local officers are now working to gather evidence and locate the perpetrator.

Community Outrage and Fear

Local organisations have voiced concern over rising hate-motivated crimes. The Sikh Federation UK confirmed, quoting local sources, that the victim is a Punjabi woman, adding that the attacker allegedly broke into her home before the assault.

“This is now the second racially aggravated rape of a young woman in the West Midlands in the past two months,” the federation said, urging police to act swiftly.

Police Strengthen Presence in Walsall

Chief Superintendent Phil Dolby said the police are increasing their presence across Walsall to reassure residents.

“We understand the fear and concern this awful attack has caused. We’re working closely with local communities and community leaders to restore confidence,” he said.

The police have not linked this case to the recent racially motivated rape of a British Sikh woman in nearby Oldbury, though both incidents have triggered deep concern among the UK’s South Asian diaspora.

Authorities continue to appeal to the public for information and are reviewing all available CCTV footage to identify the attacker.
