Hyderabad Murder Case: Man Kills Pregnant Wife, Dumps Body Parts in Musi River

Hyderabad: In a shocking crime, a 27-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering his five-month pregnant wife, dismembering her body, and dumping the parts in the Musi river to hide the crime.

The incident took place on Saturday evening at the couple’s rented home in Medipally. Police said the accused, who worked as a cab driver, throttled his 21-year-old wife following repeated quarrels. To destroy evidence, he used a blade to cut the body into pieces, packed them in plastic bags, and made multiple trips to the Musi river at Prathapsingaram to dispose of them.

According to DCP (Malkajgiri Zone) P.V. Padmaja, the man discarded the victim’s head, hands, and legs in the river while keeping the torso hidden in his room. Later, he told his sister that his wife had gone missing. When she grew suspicious and alerted relatives, he was taken to the police, where he eventually confessed.

Investigation and Recovery

Police have registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder and destruction of evidence. The remains recovered from the house have been sent for post-mortem, and DNA tests will be conducted to confirm identity. Teams of NDRF personnel and GHMC swimmers are searching for the missing body parts in the river.

Troubled Marriage

Investigations revealed that both the accused and the victim were from Vikarabad district. They had known each other as neighbours and got married in January 2024 through a love-cum-arranged marriage.

Soon after moving to Hyderabad, disputes began. In April 2024, the woman filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband, which was later settled through a panchayat. She briefly worked at a call centre but was forced to quit after her husband objected.

Despite becoming pregnant in March 2025, quarrels continued. On August 22, the victim told her husband she wanted to go to her parents’ home in Vikarabad for a medical check-up. Police said an argument broke out, during which the accused decided to kill her.

The investigation is ongoing, and search operations are underway to recover the remaining body parts.
