Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh | October 12, 2025 — All India Hindu Mahasabha’s national general secretary Pooja Shakun Pandey has been arrested in connection with the murder of Aligarh-based businessman Abhishek Gupta, police said on Saturday.
Pandey, who was carrying a ₹50,000 reward, was caught near the Lodha bypass on the Agra–Jaipur Highway in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district late Friday night. She was produced in court the following day and sent to jail.
This marks the fourth arrest in the case. Earlier, police had taken into custody Pandey’s husband Ashok Pandey, along with two alleged shooters, Mohammad Fazal and Asif, who reportedly carried out the killing on the couple’s instructions.
The Case So Far
Abhishek Gupta was shot dead on September 26 while boarding a bus with his father and a relative near Khereshwar Mandir crossing, on the outskirts of Aligarh city. He was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Investigators believe the killing was a contract murder linked to a financial dispute between Gupta and the Pandey couple. According to police, the accused had been harassing the businessman for some time before allegedly hiring shooters to carry out the crime.
Officials said both hired assailants were well-acquainted with the couple and had visited their residence on several occasions.
Police Statement
Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar confirmed that all the key suspects in the case have now been arrested. “A detailed charge sheet will be filed soon,” he said, adding that Pandey’s arrest brings the investigation to a crucial stage.
