Heavy rainfall on Saturday, August 9, 2025, created chaos across Delhi, with waterlogging on major roads and disruptions to daily life. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the capital city experienced intense downpours, accompanied by thunderstorms, which are expected to persist throughout the day. Areas like Mathura Road, Shastri Bhawan, and R.K. Puram saw significant waterlogging, causing traffic snarls and delays. The IMD has also warned of continued rain and thunderstorms for the next few days in the capital.

Meanwhile, the IMD issued a fresh alert for Himachal Pradesh, forecasting heavy rainfall in many parts of the state over the next few days. An Orange Alert has been issued for August 11 and 12 for three districts, while a Yellow Alert has been issued for the rest of the state. The ongoing rains in Himachal Pradesh are expected to cause further disruptions, and the public has been urged to take necessary precautions.

In Telangana, the IMD has issued a heavy rainfall alert for three districts: Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, and Jogulamba Gadwal. The department has warned of heavy rain at isolated locations throughout the day on Saturday, urging residents to remain vigilant as conditions could worsen. The monsoon’s erratic behavior has led to concerns about potential flooding in vulnerable areas.

As the monsoon continues to impact different regions, residents of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, and Telangana are advised to stay updated on weather reports and be prepared for possible disruptions. The IMD has also reminded the public to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall and stay safe during the ongoing weather conditions.

This year’s monsoon season has already seen unusual weather patterns, with varying rainfall intensity affecting different parts of India. The IMD’s continuous warnings and alerts highlight the unpredictable nature of the monsoon this season, making it crucial for the public to stay informed and cautious.
