Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri’s romantic drama Dhadak 2 is maintaining a modest pace at the box office despite positive reviews and strong performances. The film earned ₹1.6 crore on its fifth day, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹14.35 crore.
Special ₹99 Ticket Offer Brings Mild Boost
To increase footfall during the weekday slump, the film’s makers introduced a nationwide ₹99 ticket offer. While the promotional move attracted attention and appreciation from fans, it didn’t result in a significant jump in collections.
Occupancy Trends Show Evening Growth
The film saw steady growth in occupancy throughout the day. Morning shows reported a 13.7% turnout, which rose to 28.6% by the afternoon, 32.07% in the evening, and peaked at 42.5% during the night screenings.
Tough Box Office Competition
Dhadak 2 is up against multiple releases that are drawing large crowds. Son of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, earned ₹2.5 crore on the same day, pushing its five-day total to ₹29.6 crore. Mahavatar Narsimha outshone both with ₹7.75 crore. Additionally, Saiyaara continued its impressive run with ₹2.5 crore on Day 19.
About the Film
Directed by Shazia Iqbal, Dhadak 2 serves as a spiritual sequel to the 2018 original. The story delves into themes of inter-caste romance and social injustice. Though praised for its message and lead performances, the film has yet to gain momentum at the box office. With the first week nearing its end, it now looks to positive word-of-mouth to carry it through the upcoming weekend.
