Delhi Murder Mystery: Woman, Ex-Boyfriend, and Friend Held for Killing UPSC Aspirant, Burning Body to Erase Evidence

New Delhi – Delhi Police have solved a shocking murder case involving the brutal killing of a 32-year-old UPSC aspirant, whose charred body was discovered in his Timarpur flat earlier this month. The investigation revealed that his 21-year-old live-in partner, along with her ex-boyfriend and a friend, plotted the murder to destroy evidence of private videos the victim had allegedly recorded.

The incident came to light on October 6, when police responded to a fire alert at a fourth-floor apartment in Gandhi Vihar, North Delhi. Once the blaze was extinguished, officers found a severely burnt body later identified as Ram Kesh Meena, a civil services aspirant.

The Conspiracy Unfolds

Police suspicions grew after reviewing CCTV footage from the building. The footage showed two masked individuals entering the building before the fire broke out. Later, a man and a woman—identified as Amrita Chauhan, Meena’s live-in partner—were seen leaving the premises. The timing of the fire closely matched their departure.

Further investigation revealed that Amrita had switched off her phone immediately after the incident. Following multiple raids, she was arrested on October 18, and two accomplices — her ex-boyfriend Sumit Kashyap and a mutual friend Sandeep Kumar — were later detained.

During questioning, Amrita admitted that she and Sumit planned Meena’s murder. According to police, Amrita was furious after discovering that Meena had recorded private videos of her and refused to delete them despite repeated requests. She then confided in Sumit, who agreed to help her take revenge.

A Chilling Execution

Investigators revealed that Sumit, who worked in an LPG distribution company, used his technical knowledge to stage the murder as an accidental fire. Late on October 5, Sumit and Sandeep assaulted Meena and strangled him to death. They poured oil, ghee, and wine on the body to accelerate the fire, placed a gas cylinder near Meena’s head, and opened the valve to fill the room with gas.

After stealing Meena’s laptops, hard disk, and other belongings, the accused set the apartment ablaze using a lighter and fled. The explosion destroyed most evidence — but CCTV footage and digital trails ultimately exposed the culprits.

All three accused are now in police custody. The hard disk, believed to be the key motive behind the murder, has been recovered along with other stolen items.
