Amid ongoing strikes in the Telugu film industry, megastar Chiranjeevi has publicly denied reports that he met with members of the Telugu Industry Film Employees’ Federation to discuss their wage demands.
In a post on X, Chiranjeevi dismissed the claims as “false and motivated,” stating:
“Some individuals claiming to be members of the Film Federation have gone to the media saying I met them and assured that their demands, including a 30% wage hike, will be met and that I will be starting shooting soon. I wish to set the record straight — I have not met anyone from the federation. This is an industry matter, and no individual, including me, can give unilateral assurances.”
The actor emphasised that the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce is the only body authorised to negotiate and resolve such disputes. He urged all parties to refrain from spreading misinformation that could cause confusion among stakeholders.
Background to the Dispute
Earlier this month, the Telugu Film Chamber confirmed that the Federation has been demanding a 30% wage increase for its members. The chamber responded by stating that the industry already pays above the legally mandated minimum wage and warned that disruptions would cause significant harm to ongoing productions.
In its statement, the chamber also advised producers not to make independent agreements with unions until a collective resolution is reached. Talks with relevant authorities are ongoing to find a sustainable solution.
