A Chinese billionaire in the gaming industry has reportedly fathered more than 100 children through surrogacy in the United States, according to a report that reviewed and verified a trail of online posts and related accounts.
The man named in the report is Xu Bo, founder of Chinese gaming company Duoyi. Posts linked to him describe an ambition to build a large family “dynasty,” with Xu previously stating publicly that he wanted dozens of children to eventually take over his business.
Court dispute and online claims
The report also points to a family court case in Los Angeles from 2023 in which a judge reportedly rejected a petition connected to Xu’s parentage claims. Later, a post on a Weibo account associated with him claimed the decision was successfully appealed.
Accounts linked to Xu have also posted provocative statements online, including claims suggesting that having more children could “solve” problems and even imagined future ties between his children and those of Elon Musk.
Ex-partner alleges the number is far higher
Xu’s former partner, Tang Jing, has alleged he has fathered over 300 children and said they are locked in a custody dispute involving two daughters. She has also claimed many of the children lack household registration and argued that the figure is not exaggerated.
Xu, in turn, has accused Tang of not returning a large portion of money he says he transferred to her, and he reportedly filed a lawsuit in 2024 over the dispute.
Company disputes “300,” acknowledges “over 100”
In a statement posted on Weibo at the time, Duoyi Network disputed the “300 children” claim, saying the number was incorrect and that Xu had “a little over 100” children after years of surrogacy arrangements in the US. The report says several of the children are believed to be living in Irvine, California, with care provided by nannies.
Why it’s controversial
The claims have stirred backlash, especially because surrogacy is banned in China, while wealthier individuals are sometimes reported to seek arrangements overseas, including in the US.
