What’s In Donald Trump’s Alleged 2003 Letter To Jeffrey Epstein?

Washington: Fresh controversy erupted in the United States after House Democrats released files linked to Jeffrey Epstein, including a 2003 “birthday book” that allegedly contained a sexually suggestive letter from Donald Trump. The release has reignited scrutiny of Trump’s past ties to Epstein, the disgraced financier who died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

The Alleged Letter

According to the Wall Street Journal’s earlier reporting and new disclosures by the House Oversight Committee, the birthday compilation included a short exchange purportedly between Trump and Epstein, alongside a sketch of a curvaceous woman.

The dialogue in the note reads:

  • “We have certain things in common,” signed as “Donald.”
  • “Yes, we do, come to think of it,” attributed to Epstein.
  • “Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?” wrote Donald.
  • “As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you,” replied Epstein.

The note ends: “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.” It is followed by what appears to be Trump’s signature.

Trump’s Denial

Trump has strongly rejected the authenticity of both the letter and the sketch. “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures,” he said, insisting the signature does not match his own.

The former president even filed a $10 billion lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal earlier this year, accusing it of publishing a “false, malicious, and defamatory” story about the letter. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt also defended Trump, calling the document a fabrication. Deputy chief of staff Taylor Budowich circulated comparisons of Trump’s verified signatures, arguing the alleged one was forged.

Another Epstein Link

The “birthday book” also contained another reference to Trump, alongside a photograph of Epstein holding a $22,500 check apparently signed by him. The note read: “Jeffrey showing early talents with money + women! Sells ‘fully depreciated’ [redacted name] to Donald Trump.”

The House Oversight Committee released Trump’s alleged letter ahead of the full publication of the book, drawing criticism from Republicans. Committee chairman James Comer accused Democrats of “cherry-picking documents and politicising information.”
