Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s upcoming film Jolly LLB 3 has overcome a significant legal challenge ahead of its release. The Allahabad High Court recently dismissed a petition that sought to block the film due to allegations that its song ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’ defamed the judiciary and the legal profession. The court found no objectionable content in the song, trailer, or teaser, giving the makers the much-needed relief as the film nears its release date.
The petition had requested a stay on the film’s release, citing concerns over the alleged mockery of the legal system. However, the court ruled that the content did not disrespect or undermine the dignity of the judiciary. Justice Sangeeta Chandra and Justice Brij Raj Singh, who reviewed the matter, concluded that the lyrics of ‘Bhai Vakeel Hai’ and other promotional material were not offensive or disrespectful to the legal profession. With this ruling, the petition was dismissed, and no costs were imposed on the petitioners.
Pending Case in Pune
Despite this victory, Jolly LLB 3 still faces a legal battle in Pune. A complaint filed by lawyer Wajid Khan Bidkar claims that the film mocks the legal system and court proceedings. He specifically objected to a scene where judges are referred to as “mamu,” which he believes is derogatory and insulting to the judiciary. The Pune court has issued notices to lead actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, directing them to appear in court on September 28, 2025.
