Modi Accuses RJD, Congress of Insulting His Mother, Appeals to Women Voters in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday accused the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress of insulting his late mother during a recent political event in Bihar, saying such remarks were an attack on the dignity of women across the country.

Speaking to nearly 20 lakh women through a statewide video address at the launch of the Bihar Rajya Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Federation Limited, Modi urged women voters to hold the opposition accountable in the upcoming assembly elections.

He referred to remarks made during the Congress-RJD’s “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in Darbhanga on August 27, where offensive language was allegedly used. Modi also criticized Rahul Gandhi for using “tu-tadak” while addressing him, saying those from privileged families could not understand the struggles of ordinary mothers.

“They cannot accept that someone from a backward or extremely backward background is leading the government. Their arrogance turns into abuse when a common worker occupies the chair,” Modi said, in an indirect reference to Rahul Gandhi and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.

Seeking support from women voters, the Prime Minister alleged that the RJD had historically opposed women’s reservation, resisted their progress, and even disrespected women leaders, including President Droupadi Murmu. He reminded the audience of the law-and-order situation in Bihar during the RJD’s previous rule, when, he said, families feared for the safety of their loved ones.

“This is not just an insult to my mother, who had nothing to do with politics, but to every mother, sister and daughter in the country,” Modi said emotionally. “With your blessings, I will bear this pain.”

Reacting to the charges, RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav dismissed Modi’s remarks, claiming the NDA was rattled by the success of the Voter Adhikar Yatra. He said no RJD leader was present on the Darbhanga stage during the alleged incident and insisted his party respected women.
