Mumbai – Bigg Boss 19 contestant Tanya Mittal has addressed the controversy surrounding her remarks on the Pahalgam terror attack, saying that she remained unaffected by the backlash and continues to focus on her work.
Tanya Mittal on the Controversy
In April, Tanya posted a video after the Pahalgam attack in south Kashmir, which killed 26 tourists. In it, she said, “Terrorism has no religion.” The remark sparked criticism on social media, with some alleging that she was connected to state tourism departments.
Responding to the backlash, Tanya told the Hindustan Times:
“When the controversy happened, just 48 hours later I was traveling and making videos. It really didn’t affect me. I know my truth. If goodness has to step out to prove itself, that day evil wins. Be good, know you are good, and move on from places where your goodness isn’t respected.”
She added that the criticism came from people who had worked with her for months:
“Someone said I was a misfit. But can they deny we worked together for eight months? They proved that in tough times no one stands with each other. I’m happy they left me because now we’re more involved in other states too. Nothing is stopping me.”
Clarification on Tourism Links
Amid the row, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department issued a statement clarifying that Tanya Mittal had no official association with them, despite social media claims to the contrary.
Moving Forward
Tanya, who describes herself as a spiritual influencer, has continued her journey on Bigg Boss 19. Despite criticism, she says the incident has not derailed her focus.
