August 26, 2025: Google has rolled out a major update to its AI-powered tool NotebookLM, expanding support for 80 languages in its Video Overviews and Audio Overviews features.
Video Overviews Go Global
Launched just last month, Video Overviews allow users to turn notes, PDFs, and even images into short video presentations. Initially limited to English, the feature now works in multiple global languages including French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and dozens more. This expansion opens up the tool for learners and professionals worldwide who prefer studying in their native languages.
Smarter Audio Overviews
Google has also enhanced Audio Overviews, which provide spoken summaries of documents. Previously, only English users had access to detailed summaries, while other languages were restricted to shorter versions. With the latest update, full summaries are now available in over 80 languages, while users can still opt for quick highlights if they prefer concise takeaways.
Making Learning More Inclusive
The company said the move is part of its mission to make NotebookLM more inclusive and accessible globally. The upgrades aim to help a wide range of users — from students revising study notes to professionals analyzing research — by providing flexible, language-friendly tools for learning and productivity.
Rollout Timeline
The new features begin rolling out today and will expand worldwide over the next week. Users everywhere should soon be able to take advantage of the language support upgrades.
