Mumbai: Acclaimed actress Tannishtha Chatterjee, known for films like Parched, Joram, and Angry Indian Goddesses, has revealed that she is battling Stage 4 oligo-metastatic cancer. The announcement came through an emotional Instagram post, where she also thanked her family, friends, and industry colleagues for standing by her during the toughest period of her life.
A Personal Battle
Chatterjee shared that she received the diagnosis eight months ago, shortly after losing her father to the same disease. She wrote that the last few months have been “incredibly difficult” but emphasized that her message was not about pain, but about love and strength.
The actress spoke about the challenges of supporting both her 70-year-old mother and nine-year-old daughter while navigating treatment, adding that the compassion of those around her helped her through. “In the darkest moments, I discovered an extraordinary kind of love, the kind that shows up, holds space, and never lets you feel alone,” she wrote.
Celebrating Support and Friendship
Chatterjee expressed deep gratitude towards her circle of friends in the film industry, highlighting the strength of female friendships and sisterhood. She thanked stars like Shabana Azmi, Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza, Konkona Sen Sharma, Sandhya Mridul, Divya Dutta, Richa Chadha, Urmila Matondkar, and many others who stood by her with empathy and encouragement.
“Cheers to female friendships, the sisterhood that showed up for me with fierce love, deep empathy, and unstoppable strength,” she concluded in her post.
