Fans of superstar Rajinikanth were left puzzled on Saturday after conflicting statements emerged regarding the ‘Coolie Meet & Greet Thalaivar’ contest. What was first dismissed as “fake and unauthorized” by the actor’s publicist was later confirmed to be an official promotion, with the team attributing the mix-up to a miscommunication.
The Initial Denial
Earlier in the day, Rajinikanth’s publicist Riaz Ahmed issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), warning fans against participating in the contest being promoted by Malaysian distributor Malik Streams.
“The ‘Meet & Greet Thalaivar’ contest that is currently being promoted by Malik Streams in Malaysia is completely unauthorized, fake, and announced without prior permission from Thalaivar. We strongly advise fans not to participate in this misleading activity,” Ahmed wrote.
The announcement left many fans disappointed, with several expressing anger at what they believed was a fraudulent campaign.
The Clarification
However, just hours later, Ahmed issued a second statement reversing his stance.
“Due to an earlier miscommunication, there was some confusion regarding the ‘Coolie Meet & Greet Thalaivar’ contest by Malik Streams. We now confirm that the contest is valid, organized with the required details, and open for participation. We thank fans for their understanding and unwavering support,” he posted.
The clarification brought relief to Rajinikanth’s fan base, though it also triggered discussions online about the need for clearer communication from celebrity teams.
