Sundar Pichai Announces Free Weekend Trial of Google’s AI Video Tool Veo 3

Google CEO Sundar Pichai has announced a free trial of Veo 3, the company’s latest AI-powered video creation tool, available for users worldwide this weekend.

Pichai reposted Google’s announcement on X, writing:

“Veo 3 is now free for the weekend for everyone to try – can’t wait to see what you’ll create! 🎬”

Free Trial Details

According to Google, users can generate three videos at no cost using Veo 3 via the Gemini app, but the offer is valid only until Sunday, August 24 at 10 pm PT. The company said the trial is designed to let users explore Veo 3’s creative potential while providing feedback to improve the platform.

What is Veo 3?

Unveiled at Google I/O in May, Veo 3 is an AI-driven video generator that allows users to create 8-second clips with sound, including AI-generated characters, background music, sound effects, and synthesised speech.

The tool has already gained attention online, with viral clips ranging from playful re-creations of historical events to imaginative experiments with sound and visual storytelling.

Expanding Access

In July, Google expanded Veo 3’s availability to all regions where the Gemini app operates, including India, under the Google AI Pro subscription. With this free trial, the company aims to broaden its user base further.

Safety and Transparency

Google has stressed a responsible rollout of Veo 3. Every video created carries a visible watermark and an invisible SynthID marker to ensure transparency around AI-generated content. The platform also undergoes red teaming and strict evaluations to prevent misuse.

Why It Matters

With Veo 3, Google is positioning itself as a major player in AI-driven digital content creation. By combining accessibility, creativity, and safety, the tool could significantly reshape how users generate and share short-form videos.
