The enduring friendship between cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli remains as strong as ever, according to Kambli’s brother, Virendra. Despite Kambli’s recent health struggles, including a brain clot, Tendulkar continues to offer his unwavering support, checking in regularly on both Kambli and his wife, Andrea Hewitt.

A Bond That Started in Childhood

Tendulkar and Kambli’s friendship is one of cricket’s most iconic, rooted in their childhood days. Their famous 664-run partnership in a school cricket match has become part of the game’s folklore. While Tendulkar went on to achieve legendary status in international cricket, Kambli’s career didn’t reach the same heights, but their friendship has always remained strong.

In a recent interview, Virendra shared that Tendulkar frequently checks on Kambli’s health and well-being. “Sachin dada has always supported Vinod. Their friendship is still very strong. Sachin calls and checks on him with Andrea,” Virendra said.

Fond Memories of Their Time Together

Virendra reminisced about their time together during Ranji Trophy matches, where he would often join Tendulkar and Kambli in the dressing room. “He was closest to him. I don’t know about others, but I saw them together when I went to watch Ranji Trophy matches. We would joke around, have fun, and enjoy our time together,” Virendra recalled.

Kambli’s Road to Recovery

Regarding Kambli’s health, Virendra provided a cautiously optimistic update. After being hospitalized due to a brain clot a few months ago, Kambli is now stable but still recovering. “He is at home right now. He is getting stable, but his treatment is ongoing. He is having difficulty speaking. It will take him time to recover, but he’s a champion, and he will come back,” Virendra said. “He will start walking and running, hopefully. I have a lot of faith in him, and I hope you’ll see him back on the ground soon.”
