KBR Wyle Services Secures $3.6B NASA Follow-On Human Health, Performance Contract

NASA has awarded KBR Wyle Services a potential 10-year, $3.6 billion contract to support the Human Health and Performance Directorate at the Johnson Space Center. This division is dedicated to researching ways to mitigate astronaut health risks in preparation for future human spaceflight missions.

The follow-on contract, named the Human Health and Performance Contract 2, is an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity agreement with an initial five-year performance period set to begin on November 1, 2025. It includes options to extend the contract through 2035, as announced by NASA on Monday.

KBR Contract Scope

In partnership with Leidos as a subcontractor, KBR will be responsible for supporting several major programs, including the Human Research Program, the International Space Station Program, the Commercial Crew Program, and the Artemis campaign. Their role will focus on ensuring the health, safety, and performance of spaceflight crews, providing occupational health services, and conducting vital research into minimizing risks associated with space missions.

The Human Health and Performance Directorate’s overarching vision is to enable humans to live, work, and thrive in space, with long-term goals for missions on the moon and Mars. Their mission is to lead the global spaceflight community in protecting astronaut health and enhancing mission performance for future space exploration.

This contract represents a significant step toward ensuring the safety and efficiency of human space exploration, marking another key milestone in NASA’s ongoing efforts to advance its ambitious space programs.
