Garmin has released a new beta software update for its premium Venu X1 smartwatch, targeting key bugs and performance issues. The update, labelled Beta 12.63, is currently available through Garmin’s Beta Program and must be manually downloaded by users.
The Venu X1 — priced at $799 in the US — is one of Garmin’s most high-end models, featuring a 2-inch AMOLED display with a 448 x 486 resolution, a slim 7.9 mm profile, and a lightweight 40 g design.
What’s Fixed in Beta 12.63
According to Garmin’s forum post, the new beta addresses two major problems:
- Rapid Battery Drain: A bug that caused the watch to lose charge unusually quickly in some cases.
- Altitude Graph Error: An issue where invalid data could appear on the altitude tracking graph.
The update also includes various minor bug fixes, general performance improvements, and updated Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) translations (now at version 1.7).
How to Get the Update
Since this is a beta release, it’s only available to users who manually request it. To install:
- Go to Main Menu > Settings > System > Software Update
- Tap Check for Updates
Garmin last issued Beta 12.59 in late July, followed by Beta 12.61 earlier this month, making this the third update in just a few weeks as the company works to refine the Venu X1’s performance.
