The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has approached the Supreme Court seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) First Information Report (FIR) against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The petition alleges that Banerjee obstructed lawful searches conducted by the ED in connection with its investigation into the alleged irregularities in the recruitment process for state government jobs.

The ED’s plea centers around incidents that occurred during raids conducted by the agency on January 5th, targeting individuals associated with the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC), a political consultancy firm that previously worked for the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
