Former Australian captain and renowned cricket strategist Ricky Ponting has reportedly declined an offer to coach the Indian men’s Test team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had approached Ponting following Rahul Dravid’s resignation from the position, seeking his expertise for the upcoming Test series and beyond. However, Ponting has chosen to remain committed to his existing franchise coaching duties and family commitments, deeming the timing unsuitable for a full-time role with the national team.

Sources within the BCCI confirmed the approach and subsequent decline, highlighting Ponting as their top target to revitalize the Test format. India has been actively searching for a new coach after Dravid stepped down in the wake of the team’s performance in the recent ICC Cricket World Cup. Ponting’s Current Commitments

Currently, Ponting serves as the head coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Delhi Capitals.
