UP Man Dies by Suicide in Varanasi, Leaves Video Alleging Harassment; Wife and Alleged Partner Booked

A 30-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi died by suicide after recording a video in which he accused his wife, her alleged partner, and his mother-in-law of harassment, police said on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Rahul Mishra from the Lohata area, was found hanging at his residence. Before his death, he recorded a video message that has since surfaced on social media. In the video, Mishra spoke about emotional distress and claimed he was being harassed due to his wife’s alleged extramarital relationship.

According to police, Mishra named his wife Sandhya, her friend Shubham Singh—also known as “Danger”—and his mother-in-law Mandvi in the recording. He reportedly said he loved his wife and wanted to continue living but felt driven to the extreme step due to sustained mental pressure.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Varuna Zone) Neetu Kadyan confirmed the existence of the pre-suicide video and said it is being examined as part of the investigation.

Following the incident, Mishra’s mother filed a formal complaint with the police. Based on her statement, a case of abetment to suicide has been registered against all three accused. Police said further investigation is underway to verify the allegations and circumstances leading to the death.
