A 22-year-old Bengaluru content creator struck a chord with thousands after posting a viral video declaring that he planned to quit his full-time job.
Aanshul Uthaiah, who works in Bengaluru and also creates content on Instagram, uploaded a candid clip on Sunday in which he announced that he would resign from his job the following day—despite having no backup plan.
“I am quitting my job tomorrow and I have no clue what I’m going to do,” he said in the video, which he captioned ‘Sunday ramblings’.
Uthaiah added that he “hates” his current work life and feels stuck. Though he has been accepted to two universities in Australia for higher studies, he admitted he does not wish to pursue academics again.
“I find my job very boring. It’s gotten to my head so much that I really can’t do it anymore. I feel like I’m wasting my time,” he said.
The young professional also revealed that his parents were unhappy about his decision to quit a stable job.
Viral impact: Followers doubled in 48 hours
At the time of posting, Uthaiah had around 10,000 Instagram followers. After the video exploded online—garnering over 2 million views—his follower count jumped to over 20,000 within two days.
The fitness enthusiast, who calls himself an “average gym grower,” regularly posts workout content and said he now wants to give his full effort to online creation.
‘I am scared’: His follow-up video shows real-time confusion
A day later, Uthaiah posted another video recorded before leaving for work on Monday. This time, he appeared conflicted and nervous.
“It’s 7:45 am… I have to go to work by 10 am, and I’m scared. I don’t know what to do,” he admitted.
He said his mind was torn between taking more time to think or taking the leap immediately.
“The thought of not having a stable income scares me, but I also don’t enjoy my job. If not now, when will I take a risk?” he reflected.
HT has reached out to Uthaiah for further details and will update the report when he responds.
Internet reacts: ‘Full support, brother!’
Over 2,000 comments poured in, many from young professionals who related to the pressure of modern work life.
One user joked that the gloomy Bengaluru weather probably caused his Sunday existential crisis.
Others offered genuine encouragement:
- “Brother, full support from my end and a big shoutout to you!”
- “You cannot become who you’re meant to be unless you let go of who you are right now.”
The video has sparked a larger conversation online about burnout, career dissatisfaction, and Gen Z’s willingness to prioritise mental well-being over conventional job stability.
