Man kicks and slaps wife during wedding baraat as crowd watches, viral video sparks anger online

A disturbing video from a wedding procession has gone viral, showing a man repeatedly kicking and slapping his wife in the middle of the baraat while onlookers stand by in shock.

In the clip, the woman is seen dancing during the ceremony, surrounded by guests. Moments later, a man – identified online as her husband – walks up and starts kicking her from behind. Stunned, she reacts with a kick of her own, but he quickly escalates, slapping her again and again in rhythm with the music, shoving and hitting her as they move out of the camera frame.

What’s more unsettling is that despite the crowd clearly witnessing the assault, nobody steps in to stop him. People are seen watching, some visibly shocked, but no one intervenes.

The video, captioned “Kalesh b/w a couple while dancing in marriage ceremony,” has triggered widespread outrage on social media. While a few users tried to brush it off as “typical wedding drama” or joked about it, many others called it out for what it is: domestic violence in public, not “fun” or “content”.

Some of the stronger reactions included users criticising the bystanders for normalising abuse and failing to protect the woman, calling the behaviour “uncultured” and “backward”, and urging people to stop labelling such incidents as “kalesh” or harmless couple fights.

The incident has once again raised uncomfortable questions about how often violence against women is ignored, excused, or laughed off in social settings – even when it plays out in full view of a crowd.
