The dispute between conservative commentator Candace Owens and Turning Point USA (TPUSA) escalated further this week, drawing in far-right activist Nick Fuentes, who sharply criticized Owens over her refusal to appear in person for a livestream addressing her allegations about the late Charlie Kirk.
Owens and TPUSA have been clashing over the scheduling and format of a livestream intended to respond to Owens’ claims surrounding Kirk’s September 10 shooting at Utah Valley University. While Owens has publicly floated several theories about the incident, she has not provided evidence to support them. Her comments prompted TPUSA to invite her to an on-camera discussion at the organization’s Phoenix studio.
Birthday Dispute Fuels Online Row
Owens initially agreed to participate but later argued that she could not attend in person due to conflicting schedules. Supporters claimed she was unavailable on December 15 because it was her husband George Farmer’s birthday—a point that quickly became the center of an online debate.
Social media users highlighted older podcast episodes in which Owens appeared to suggest that Farmer’s birthday fell close to the U.S. Independence Day holiday. Records from the United Kingdom’s Companies House list George Thomas Stahel Farmer as born in July 1990. A now-removed Wikipedia entry also previously displayed July 7 as his date of birth.
Some users further noted that while Owens frequently posts birthday messages for friends and family on social media, there are no visible posts celebrating her husband’s birthday—leading to speculation that previous posts may have been removed.
Owens maintained that she could not travel that day due to “important things going on,” adding that guests were arriving from overseas.
Fuentes Launches Harsh Critique
Amid the swirling controversy, Nick Fuentes issued a strong rebuke of Owens on X (formerly Twitter), siding firmly with TPUSA.
“Never forget that ‘Candace Owens’ was originally created by TPUSA & DailyWire as a token black female Republican,” Fuentes wrote.
He continued: “Conservatives have nobody to blame but themselves for all of the irreparable harm being inflicted by their glorified DEI hire.”
Fuentes had earlier mocked Owens for declining to appear in person despite repeatedly demanding answers from TPUSA about Kirk’s death.
“You were invited to TPUSA HQ to press their leadership live and in person… but you can’t go because of a scheduling conflict? LOL,” he posted. “Isn’t this what you have been pushing for since September?”
Background: Tension After Charlie Kirk’s Death
Charlie Kirk, the founder of TPUSA, was fatally shot at an event in Utah in September, and Owens has since suggested multiple theories regarding the circumstances of his death. TPUSA leadership has repeatedly dismissed her claims and sought to address the issue publicly through a livestream.
The ongoing feud highlights deepening divisions within parts of the conservative media ecosystem, with added scrutiny now falling on Owens’ personal explanations and Fuentes’ escalating criticism.
