Halloween 2025 got an unexpected Bollywood twist when an Indian-origin woman from Indiana, USA, stunned everyone by dressing up as Stree, the haunting spirit from the 2018 horror-comedy that popularised the line “O Stree, kal aana.”
While others appeared as vampires, ghosts, and witches, this desi twist stole the show — and social media can’t get enough of it.
The Viral Stree-Inspired Halloween Moment
In the viral video, the woman is seen wearing a red saree, covering her face, and walking slowly along a brightly lit American street — perfectly channeling the chilling aura of Stree (originally portrayed by Flora Saini).
At one point, she even holds a lamp and approaches a house for trick-or-treating. The residents playfully hand her chocolates, and she quietly turns around and walks away — maintaining her haunting calm till the very end.
The video was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Indiana Halloween costume,” and has since gone viral across platforms.
Netizens Can’t Stop Praising Her
Social media users flooded the comments section with appreciation and humour.
One user wrote, “Awesome… she should’ve been on a hoverboard to look like she’s floating!”
Another joked, “Stree went to America for higher studies.”
Other funny remarks included:
- “GOAT of all Halloween costumes.”
- “O Stree got her H1B without any hassle.”
- “When Stree took it personally — instead of coming tomorrow, she went abroad.”
- “Indians are taking Halloween to the next level!”
Not the First Time Stree Crossed Borders
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Stree made an international appearance. In 2024, an Indian family in Brampton, Canada, gave their Halloween décor a Bollywood touch. Their porch featured a skeleton dressed in a red saree with a banner reading, “O Stree, kal aana.” The creative setup went viral then too, earning widespread praise.
About the Film
Stree, directed by Dinesh Vijan, stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. The film’s perfect mix of horror and humour made it a cult favourite — and even seven years later, it continues to inspire creativity worldwide.
