Delhi Acid Attack Case Takes Shocking Turn: DU Student’s Father Arrested, Cops Suspect Self-Inflicted Injuries

A major twist has surfaced in the alleged acid attack case involving a Delhi University student. Police have arrested the girl’s father, Akil Khan, after uncovering evidence that the incident may have been staged to falsely implicate others. Investigators now believe the student may have caused her own injuries using a toilet-cleaning chemical, though final confirmation awaits the medical report.

Fabricated Story to Frame a Rival

According to police, Khan confessed to concocting the acid attack story to frame a man whose wife had recently filed a sexual harassment and blackmail complaint against him. The woman alleged that during her employment at Khan’s factory between 2021 and 2024, he had sexually assaulted her and threatened her with objectionable photos and videos.

Investigators also discovered that a property dispute existed between Khan’s family and the relatives of two other suspects named in the girl’s complaint, further deepening suspicions of personal motive behind the false accusation.

Contradictions in the Girl’s Version

The alleged attack was first reported at around 10:52 a.m. on Sunday. The student claimed that three men on a scooter threw acid on her while she was on her way to college, and that one of them had been stalking her for a year.

However, during the investigation, multiple inconsistencies emerged in her statements. Surveillance footage and witness accounts revealed that none of the accused she identified were present near the scene at the time of the alleged assault. Police also noted irregularities in the timeline and the nature of the burns, which appeared inconsistent with a typical acid attack.

Current Status of Investigation

Police now suspect that the injuries were self-inflicted, possibly using a household cleaning agent, in an attempt to lend credibility to the fabricated story. The investigation is ongoing, and forensic and medical reports are awaited to determine the exact cause of the burns.

Authorities said further legal action will be taken based on the results of the medical examination and corroborating evidence gathered during the probe.
