SIT shields Sarma in Garg death case, alleges Gogoi

Guwahati: Allegations have surfaced in Arunachal Pradesh concerning the Special Investigation Team’s (SIT) handling of the investigation into the death of Techi Garga, with claims that the SIT is attempting to conceal the relationship between Chief Minister Pema Khandu and one of the accused individuals. These claims were made by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Gabriel Denwang Wangsu and former Chief Minister Mukut Mithi.

Licha Teji, the prime suspect in the Techi Garga murder case, allegedly has close ties to Chief Minister Pema Khandu. Opposition parties and concerned citizens are closely watching the progress of the investigation. According to reports, the SIT formed to investigate the case is under scrutiny for allegedly attempting to downplay Sarma’s connections with the accused.

Gogoi’s Allegations

The allegations were made by MLA Wangsu, who stated that there were deliberate attempts to protect individuals of high influence. The accusations come amid growing public concern over the transparency and impartiality of the investigation. He emphasized the need for a fair and thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victim and his family. These accusations have added a new dimension to the ongoing controversy surrounding the Techi Garga death case, raising concerns about potential political interference in the investigation process.

Former Chief Minister Mukut Mithi echoed these concerns, calling for an independent inquiry to ensure that the investigation is conducted without bias or external influence. Mithi emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring accountability for all those involved, regardless of their political affiliations. He stressed that any attempt to cover up the truth would undermine public trust in the justice system.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has not yet issued an official response to the allegations made by Gogoi and Mithi. However, officials have stated that the investigation is ongoing and that every effort is being made to ensure a fair and impartial outcome. They urged the public to refrain from speculation and allow the SIT to complete its work without undue pressure or interference.

The Techi Garga death case has been a subject of intense public and media scrutiny since the businessman was found dead in suspicious circumstances. The involvement of high-profile individuals and the allegations of political interference have further complicated the matter, making it a sensitive and closely watched case. The outcome of the investigation will have significant implications for the credibility of the state’s law enforcement agencies and the government’s commitment to upholding justice.

The claims of a cover-up have intensified calls for greater transparency and accountability in the investigation process. Opposition parties and civil society groups are demanding that the SIT be replaced with an independent investigative body to ensure that the truth is uncovered and justice is served. They are also urging the government to take immediate steps to address the concerns raised by MLA Wangsu and former Chief Minister Mithi and to ensure that there is no political interference in the investigation.
