Reasons for Surrender
The Naxalites, collectively carrying a reward of ₹89 lakh, reportedly expressed their frustration with the ideology and the difficult living conditions within the Naxal ranks. The government’s surrender-cum-rehabilitation policy, which offers financial assistance, vocational training, and other support to those who lay down their arms, played a crucial role in their decision, according to police officials. “The continuous operations by security forces in the Naxal-affected areas have created immense pressure on the insurgents,” stated a senior police officer. “Many are now finding it difficult to sustain themselves in the jungles and are looking for a way out. The government’s policy provides them with a viable alternative, and we are seeing more and more Naxalites coming forward to surrender.”
The surrendered Naxalites will undergo a period of rehabilitation, during which they will receive counseling, skill development training, and assistance in finding employment. The government aims to integrate them back into society and provide them with opportunities to lead a normal life.
